The University of Montana - Information Technology (UM IT) is committed to advancing Montana's high-tech economy through technology services, workforce development, and applied AI work. UM IT's footprint spans the UM affiliation's four campuses and reaches well beyond — through more than $3M in NSF Campus Cyberinfrastructure grants, deep partnerships with Montana's tribal colleges, and a leadership role in AI governance and strategy for the Montana University System.

Building Montana's tech workforce is a central focus. IT-CAMP gives students hands-on enterprise IT experience, while the TRAIL workshop series provides free AI training to local professionals. UM IT is also helping convene the Montana AI Summit, bringing together industry, education, and government partners statewide.

The team reflects Montana's entrepreneurial spirit, including business owners, faculty, and researchers working alongside career IT professionals on problems that matter to the state.
